Starting WLAN Auto. Config Service in Windows 7. WLAN Auto. Config service is built- in tool in Windows 7 that can be used to detect and connect to wireless network, of course you need to have wireless adapter installed on computer. This built- in wireless network connection tool is the same as what you use in Windows Vista, and is similar to wireless zero configuration tool in Windows XP. Personally I prefer to use this built- in wireless network connection tool as I don’t have to learn about different wireless utilities for different wireless adapters. Select and click Manage. Computer Management window will appear. Under Services and Applications, click on Services. Scroll down and select WLAN Auto. Config. Check whether it is started. Double- click the service and its properties window will appear. If the startup type is not set to automatic, click on the dropdown arrow and change it to Automatic and click Start to start the service if it’s not started. WLAN AutoConfig service ( WLANSVC) helps Windows 8 and Windows 7 computers to discover a wireless network (802.11 standards) and connect to it. Click OK at last. Find Windows Update using your Start Screen. Windows Update is included in the Control Panel. Did you check the status of wireless service i.e. WLAN AutoConfig in services window?
